Philosophy
Core Purpose
Stonehenge Therapeutic Community provides a continuum of not-for-profit treatment services to men and women with chronic and acute drug and alcohol addictions.
Mission
Stonehenge Therapeutic Community brings together people with chronic and acute addictions to provide on-going opportunities for change and to promote a healthy lifestyle free of alcohol and drug abuse.
This mission is accomplished through our progressive therapeutic community approach to residential treatment, aftercare services, local outreach programs and prevention education.
Therapeutic Community Treatment Model
Stonehenge Therapeutic Community offers long term residential care that is based on the belief that addiction is an acquired lifestyle. Men and women suffering from chronic or acute addictions are offered an alternative lifestyle where values and behaviours are explored and challenged in an atmosphere of self-help and mutual support. Treatment addresses the individual in a holistic fashion and is based on the belief that change is most effective when it is “experienced and shared”.

Principles of Treatment
- Treatment should be modified to match the needs of clients, not the reverse
- Individual needs are different and client treatment plans must recognise this
- Every effort must be made to build self-esteem and incorporate opportunities for success throughout treatment
- Clients must be partners in their treatment with shared decision making with the entire community
- Support continues when formal treatment ends through Aftercare
- Treatment must be constantly evaluated and improved upon
