About the Stonehenge Alumni Association

Through its membership, the Alumni Association provides support to Stonehenge Therapeutic Community clients transitioning from residential treatment to recovery in the community and offers Alumni the opportunity for social interaction and networking with peers and agency staff. Family sports and leisure events help bring a better understanding of recovery to those who support the Alumni.  The Association provides an avenue for individuals of similar experiences to continue their growth.

The Alumni Association is an important component of the therapeutic community at Stonehenge Therapeutic Community.  It forms a bridge of support for new graduates making the transition from residential treatment to continuing care in the community.  The Alumni forms a vital support network.  The desire of the Alumni is to work with residents in treatment at Stonehenge to enhance their motivation to move their recovery in positive directions.

The Association meets quarterly throughout the year (unless otherwise arranged), usually in Guelph or in designated areas convenient to alumni members (i.e. Toronto – if membership in that area is high).

Governing Body:

The governing body of the Alumni Association is comprised of the following positions:

  • Chairperson
  • Vice-Chairperson
  • Secretary/Treasurer
  • Alumni Liaison

Membership:

Membership in the Alumni Association is open to all graduated residents of Stonehenge Therapeutic Community who are stable in their recovery and who endorse the treatment model, policies and guidelines of the Stonehenge Program.

Applicants will be encouraged to demonstrate stability in their recovery in the community for a three-month period prior to their application.  Participation in the Stonehenge Aftercare Program, other continuing care programs, 12-step programs, support groups or individual therapy is encouraged to help graduates transition from treatment to the community.

  • STC graduates may apply to the Alumni Association for membership three months after completion of the STC residential program
  • The Alumni Liaison will receive the application letters through the Agency and present the letters at the next Alumni Association Meeting for consideration.

Stonehenge Alumni are a vital part of our Therapeutic Community.
